Nationals Park
Nationals Park is the current ballpark for the Washington Nationals of the Major League Baseball league. It is the first LEED-certified green major professional sports stadium in the United States. The facility hosted the 2008 season's first game, when the Nats hosted the Atlanta Braves on March 30, 2008. The first game played there was a collegiate baseball game. The stadium is located along the Anacostia River in the Navy Yard neighborhood of Washington, D.C.

The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, abbreviated as the C&O Canal, and occasionally referred to as the "Grand Old Ditch," operated from 1831 until 1924 parallel to the Potomac River in Maryland from Cumberland, Maryland, to Washington, D.C. The total length of the canal is about 184.5 miles . The elevation change of 605 ft was accommodated with 74 canal locks. To enable the canal to cross relatively small streams, over 150 culverts were built.

Ziegfeld's
Ziegfeld's/Secrets was a dual bar located at 1345 Half Street SE in Washington, D.C. It is one of the oldest and most respected drag bars in the world. The bar was circular and divided by a wall with a bar in the middle and doors on either side. The Ziegfeld's side of the venue featured a large stage adorned on either side by a giant silver high heeled shoe.

South Capitol Street
South Capitol Street is a major street dividing the southeast and southwest quadrants of Washington, D.C. It runs south from the United States Capitol to the Washington-Maryland line. Once it crosses the line, intersecting with Southern Avenue, it becomes Indian Head Highway at the Eastover Shopping Center, a terminal or transfer point of many bus routes. North of the Anacostia River, South Capitol Street runs due north-south.

Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge
The Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge, otherwise known as the South Capitol Street Bridge, is a swing bridge that carries South Capitol Street over the Anacostia River in Washington, D.C. It was constructed in 1950 and named after abolitionist Frederick Douglass. In 2007 the bridge was used by 77,000 daily commuters.
