Grandview Island is an island on the Ohio River in Tyler County, West Virginia. Grandview Island lies between New Matamoras, Ohio and Friendly, West Virginia. The island takes its name from a small community to its southwest on the Ohio shore by the name of Grandview.

Friendly, West Virginia

Friendly is a town in Tyler County, West Virginia, in the United States. The population was 132 at the 2010 census. The town was likely named for Friend Cochrane Williamson, the grandson of Thomas Williamson, an early settler on the townsite. Friendly was incorporated in 1898. It is the setting of the novel Shiloh.

Frontier High School (New Matamoras, Ohio)

Frontier High School is a public high school in New Matamoras, Ohio, United States. It houses grades seventh through twelfth and is home to the Frontier Cougars. New Matamoras Elementary/Junior High- Newport Elementary/Junior High are all lower grade schools within the Frontier Local School District. Frontier Local is located along the Ohio River just off of Route 7 between New Matamoras and Newport Ohio. It is the only high school in the Frontier Local School district.

Matamoras, Ohio

Matamoras is a village in Washington County, Ohio, United States, along the Ohio River. It is also commonly known as New Matamoras. The population was 896 at the 2010 census. Matamoras first settled in 1797 by James Riggs and his sons-in-law, Martin and Anthony Sheets along with their families. Riggs and his family cleared the land and built three cabins in the area. It was not known as Matamoras at that time. Many of the first settlers were Revolutionary War veterans.

Grape Island (West Virginia)

Grape Island is a 45-acre island on the Ohio River in Pleasants County, West Virginia. The bar lies off the West Virginia coast from the communities of Grape Island and Spring Run. Grape Island is forested, predominantly with American sycamores. The island serves as a habitat for great blue heron, wood ducks, cormorants, Canada geese, and migrating loons and tundra swans. Because of its diversity in wildlife, Grape Island is a part of the Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge.
