Wetzel County is a county located in the U.S. state of West Virginia. As of 2010, the population was 16,583. Its county seat is New Martinsville. Its northern border is the Mason-Dixon line. The county, founded in 1846, is named for Lewis Wetzel, a famous frontiersman and Indian fighter.

The Hastings plant is unique in that there are traffic signals approximately 0.75-mile away from the plant in either direction to stop traffic in case of an emergency.
