Upshur County is a county located in the U.S. state of West Virginia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 24,254. http://quickfacts. census. gov/qfd/states/54/54097. html. Its county seat is the City of Buckhannon. Upshur County was formed in 1851 from Randolph, Barbour, and Lewis Counties and named for Abel Parker Upshur, a distinguished statesman and jurist of Virginia. Upshur served as United States Secretary of State and Secretary of the Navy under President John Tyler.

Stonewall Jackson Lake

Stonewall Jackson Lake is an 2,630-acre impoundment on the West Fork River in Lewis County, West Virginia. The lake is a flood control project of the Pittsburgh District of the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Stonewall Resort is located along the lake's shore. Facilities provided by the Corps of Engineers included a visitors center with public restrooms, a hiking trail, and fishing access.
