Red Gulch Dinosaur Tracksite

Red Gulch Dinosaur Tracksite is an assemblage of fossil dinosaur footprints discovered in 1997 on public land near Shell, Wyoming by Erik P. Kvale, a research geologist from the Indiana Geological Survey. The tracks are believed to have been made during the Middle Jurassic Period, 160-180 million years b.p. , on what was then a shore of the Sundance Sea.

Shell Creek

Shell Creek is a tributary of the Bighorn River, approximately 50 mi long, in Wyoming in the United States. Lying entirely within Big Horn County, Shell Creek begins above the Shell Lakes in the Bighorn Mountains. Starting at an elevation of over 11,000 ft, it drops to below 3,800 ft as it descends the western side of the Bighorn Mountains through Shell Canyon and enters the Big Horn Basin near Shell, Wyoming.
