Ma River

The Ma River is a river in Asia, originating in northwestern Vietnam. It runs for 400 km through Vietnam, Laos, and then back through Vietnam, meeting the sea at the Gulf of Tonkin. The largest tributaries of the Ma River are the Chu River (or the Nam Sam River as it is called in Laos), the Bưởi River, and the Cầu Chày River. All of them join the Ma River in Thanh Hoa Province in North Central Vietnam.

Hau Loc District

Hau Loc is a district (huyện) of Thanh Hoa Province in the North Central Coastal region of Vietnam. As of 2003 the district had a population of 183,852. The district covers an area of 141 km². The district capital lies at Hau Loc. The village of Phú Điền, in xã Triệu Lộc is the site of the Bà Triệu Temple.

Thanh Hoa Bridge

The Thanh Hóa Bridge, spanning the Song Ma river, is situated 3 miles northeast of Thanh Hóa, the capital of Thanh Hoa province in Vietnam. The Vietnamese gave it the nickname Hàm Rồng (Dragon's jaw). In 1965 during the Vietnam war, it was the objective of many attacks by US Air Force and US Navy aircraft which would fail to destroy the bridge until 1972.
