Eastern Province, Zambia

Eastern Province is one of Zambia's nine provinces. The province lies between the Luangwa River and the border with Malawi, from Isoka in the northeast to just north of Luangwa in the south. The provincial capital is Chipata. The province's population was 1,306,873 in the 2000 census - about 13% of Zambia's total population.

Mambwe people

The Mambwe are an ethnic and linguistic group from Rukwa Region, Tanzania and northeastern Zambia. In 1987 the Mambwe population in Tanzania was estimated to number 63,000 http://www. ethnologue. com/show_country. asp?name=TZ.
