Nicholson railway station

Nicholson Station was opened on Monday 10 April 1916 as part of the Orbost railway line and closed on Monday 24 August 1987. Little trace remains of the station site, however a station name board exists at the site as part of the East Gippsland Rail Trail, which follows the route of the former rail line.

Nicholson, Victoria

Nicholson is a small town in East Gippsland, Victoria, Australia, 295 km east of the state capital Melbourne. It is situated between the larger towns of Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance. At the 2006 census, Nicholson and surrounds had a population of 1,504. Nicholson is located on the Princes Highway and lies on the banks of the Nicholson River. Nicholson Post Office opened on 1 August 1885.

Mossiface railway station

Mossiface Railway Station and siding was opened on Monday 10 April 1916 as part of the Orbost railway line. The station has long since closed, with the last train passing the site in 1987. The former station grounds have been preserved, and are surrounded by the small Mossiface township consisting of a few houses, farms, and facilities, including some historic hop kilns. The site overlooks the Tambo River flats, which are used as productive grazing farmland.

Bruthen Railway Station was opened on Monday 10 April 1916 as part of the Orbost railway line. The station officially closed on Monday 24 August 1987. The former platform remains evident at the station site, with the site remaining as part of the East Gippsland Rail Trail, which follows the route of the former rail line. The station itself is slightly to the east of the town of Bruthen.
