Barnack Rural District

Barnack was a rural district in the Soke of Peterborough and later Huntingdon and Peterborough from 1894 to 1974. It was created in 1894 under the Local Government Act 1894, from that part of the Stamford rural sanitary district which was in the Soke. It included the parishes of Bainton, Barnack, Southorpe, Stamford Baron St Martins Without, Thornhaugh, Ufford, Wansford, Wittering and Wothorpe in the Soke.

Southorpe Meadow

Southorpe Meadow is managed as a nature reserve by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Peterborough. It lies south of the village of Southorpe in the unitary authority area of Peterborough and has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

The Deepings

The Deepings are the adjoining villages near the River Welland, 8 miles to the north of Peterborough and 10 miles or so east of Stamford in England. The area is just north of the Peterborough border in the Lincolnshire fens. The Deepings include: Deeping Gate, Deeping St James, Deeping St Nicholas, Market Deeping and West Deeping. The area is very low-lying, and gave The Deepings their name (a Saxon name translatable as either 'deep places' or 'deep lands').

Deeping Gate

Deeping Gate is a village and civil parish, lying on the River Welland in Cambridgeshire. Traditionally, the area was part of the Soke of Peterborough, geographically considered a part of Northamptonshire; it now falls within the City of Peterborough unitary authority area.
