Wilsontown Ironworks

The ruins of the Wilsontown Ironworks are located near the village of Forth in Scotland, approximately 23 miles to the south east of Glasgow. The works were founded by the three Wilson brothers in 1779, and operated until 1842. The works had two blast furnaces, and in 1790 a forge was added. Later a rolling and slitting mill and additional forging hammers were installed. This increased the capacity of the works to 40 long tons of manufactured iron per week.

Ampherlaw House

Ampherlaw House is a manor house in Lanarkshire, Scotland, near the village of Carnwath and one of the former possessions of the Somerville family. It was built some time in the early 16th century and the members of the Somerville family who held the Ampherlaw estate were cadets of the Lords Somerville of Carnwath and Linton. After the siege of Cowthally Castle in 1597, which later fell into ruins - three important stones were retained and erected at Ampherlaw.

Carstairs, South Lanarkshire

Carstairs is a village in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. Carstairs is located 5 miles east of the county town of Lanark and the West Coast Mainline runs through the village. The village is served by Carstairs railway station. Carstairs is best known as the location of the State Hospital for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Carnwath railway station

Carnwath railway station was located just west of the village of Carnwath, on the Caledonian Railway line between Carstairs railway station and Edinburgh. It was closed by the Beeching Axe. To the north were Auchengray railway station, Cobbinshaw railway station, and Harburn railway station, all also closed.

Breich

Breich is a small village lying in the western part of West Lothian in Scotland. It lies on the A71, the Edinburgh to Ayrshire road, which also goes to the large town of Livingston 7 miles to the east. It is situated at the junction of the A706, to Lanark, Bathgate and Linlithgow. The village consists mainly of a single row of houses by the roadside (& some new builds behind the single row) and has one pub. It also has a Roadside Snack Bar called Big T's at the Breich Cross layby.
