Primero River

The Primero River (in Spanish Río Primero), also known as Suquía (the name used by the Comechingones, the indigenous people), runs through the city of Córdoba, Argentina. The tributaries of the Primero (mainly the San Roque and Cosquín rivers) flow into the San Roque Reservoir; from there, the Primero goes east into the plains surrounding the city of Córdoba.

Battle of San Roque

The Battle of San Roque was part of the Argentine Civil War. It was fought on the Primero River, near the city of Córdoba, Argentina, on 22 April 1829. The Federalist forces of Córdoba Province governor Juan Bautista Bustos were defeated by the Unitarian forces of General José María Paz. As a result of his victory, Paz assumed the office of provincial Governor.

San Roque Lake

The San Roque Lake is a reservoir (artificial lake) in the province of Córdoba, Argentina. It was created by the damming of several rivers, especially the Suquía and the Cosquín. It is located next to the city of Villa Carlos Paz, about 600 m above mean sea level. It has a surface area of 16 km², an average depth of 16 m, and a maximum volume of 180 million m³. The dam was initially built to provide fresh water for the capital and its surroundings.

Cosquín Festival

The Cosquín Folk Festival (not to be confused with the Cosquín Rock festival) is one of the most important folk music festivals of Argentina, and most important in Latin America. It lasts 9 days and takes place in the second half of January in the city of Cosquín, a scenic, Punilla Valley location in Córdoba Province. The tradition used to refer to nine moons of Cosquín.

Cosquín River

The Cosquín River is a small river in the province of Córdoba, Argentina. It is located in the area of the Punilla Valley and is part of the upper drainage basin of the Suquía River. The Cosquín receives the waters of several other minor rivers and streams and flows southwards into and across the Punilla Valley, passing by the city of Cosquín and then taking the name of Santa María River. The Cosquín flows into the San Roque River and empties into the artificial reservoir of the San Roque Lake.
