Goobang Creek

Goobang Creek is a tributary of the Lachlan River in New South Wales, Australia. It joins the Lachlan River at the town of Condobolin. Prior to European settlement, the area was inhabited by the Wiradjuri people. Major Thomas Mitchell and John Oxley were early explorers in the area. The town of Condobolin was proclaimed in 1859. In the mid-1860s, gold was mined on the creek. Goobang is said to be an Aboriginal name for a species of the acacia tree.

Ootha, New South Wales

Ootha is a village in the Central West region of New South Wales, Australia. The village is in the Lachlan Shire Local Government area, 430 kilometres west of the state capital, Sydney. At the 2006 census, Ootha and the surrounding area had a population of 94. The place name is derived from an aboriginal word for 'ear'. Ootha Post Office opened on 15 December 1914 and closed in 1980.

Condobolin railway station

Condobolin railway station opened in 1898 and lies on the Broken Hill railway line. It serves the Central Western town of Condobolin, New South Wales The station is served by the twice-weekly Indian Pacific train, as well as Countrylink's Broken Hill Outback Xplorer train. This train heads to Broken Hill on Mondays and to Sydney on Tuesdays .

Lachlan Shire is a local government area in the Central West region of New South Wales, Australia. The Shire is located adjacent to the Lachlan River, the Lachlan Valley Way and the Broken Hill railway line. The largest town and council seat is Condobolin. The Shire also includes the towns and villages of Tottenham, Lake Cargelligo, Tullibigeal, Albert, Burcher and Fifield. The Mayor of Lachlan Shire Council is Cr.
