Derwent Bridge, Tasmania

Derwent Bridge is a locality on the Lyell Highway at the southern edge of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. It is just south of Lake St Clair and the Lake St Clair visitor centre; and it is north of Lake King William and the Butlers Gorge Power Station. It is also the last inhabited location before Linda Valley in the West Coast Range - this section of the highway passes through the Wild Rivers National Park.

Lake St Clair (Tasmania)

Lake St Clair is a lake in the Central Highlands area of Tasmania, Australia. It forms part of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. It has an area of 1,114 km (430 sq mi), and a maximum depth of 200 m, making it Australia's deepest lake. The Tasmanian Government has moved to allow development in national parks and conservations areas. An 'In principle' permit has been granted for the establishment of an 'eco-friendly' resort at Pumphouse Point at Lake St Clair.

Mount King William

Mount King William is a mountain adjacent to the Lyell Highway in Central Highlands, Tasmania. It is located 10 km south west of Derwent Bridge. It is often a reference point for the 'end' of the inhabited part of the western section of Lyell Highway as there are no permanent structures until Linda; it is inside the eastern boundary of the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. There is also Lake King William, south of Derwent Bridge. It is dammed at Butlers Gorge, its south end.

Lake Edgar

Lake Edgar was a natural fault scarp pond on the upper reaches of the Huon River in South West Tasmania. Lake Edgar was actually two small lakes that were created when the Edgar fault caused the plains below Mount Anne, on the upper reaches of the Huon River, to move upwards by little more than 6 metres, causing the river to dam and divert northwards around Scotts Peak. The lake was eventually inundated when the Lake Pedder was flooded as part of a hydroelectric power scheme in 1972.

Tarraleah, Tasmania

Tarraleah is a small town in the Central Highlands of Tasmania, 126 kilometres north-west of the state capital Hobart, and slightly closer to Queenstown. the town has no longer got residents living in the houses along the main road where as it is now turned in to a relaxing stay. The township was originally built in the 1930s by the Hydro Electric Commission to house Tasmania's pioneering hydro electricity officers and management.
