Cowra breakout
The Cowra breakout occurred on August 5, 1944, when at least 545 Japanese prisoners of war escaped from a camp near Cowra, in New South Wales, Australia. It was one of the largest prison escapes of World War II, as well as one of the bloodiest. During the ensuing manhunt, four Australian soldiers and 231 Japanese soldiers were killed. The remaining escapees were captured and sent back to prison.

Woodstock, New South Wales
Woodstock is a village in the central west of New South Wales, Australia, located approximately twenty kilometres east of Cowra. It contains remains of a brief goldrush during the late 19th century which left behind a number of substantial buildings before the village relapsed into relative isolation. It includes a restored railway station, hotel, memorial hall and general store. At the 2006 census, Woodstock had a population of 263.

Secondary students travel to Cowra. It is situated on the Lachlan River between the large Wyangala Dam and Cowra.
