New South Wales Rail Transport Museum

The New South Wales Rail Transport Museum (NSWRTM), located in Thirlmere, New South Wales, is a museum dedicated to displaying locomotives and passenger and freight rolling stock formerly operated by the New South Wales Government Railways (NSWGR) and various private operators. The collection features steam, diesel and electric locomotives and other rolling stock. A large proportion of the collection is owned by RailCorp.

Thirlmere, New South Wales

Thirlmere is a small semi-rural town in the Macarthur Region of New South Wales, Australia, in Wollondilly Shire. Popularly known for its railway origins, the town is located 89 km south west of Sydney (about a 60 minute drive), one third of the distance from Sydney to Canberra. At the 2011 census, Thirlmere had a population of 3,530 people. Thirlmere was previously known as Village of Thirlmere and was originally named after Lake Thirlmere in England.

Tahmoor railway station

Tahmoor Railway Station is a station on the Southern Highlands line of the CityRail intercity network, serving the town of Tahmoor, New South Wales, Australia. The station opened on 13 July 1919 when the new alignment of the Main South Line opened. The station has two platforms that serve the diesel railcars that use the line. The platforms are not connected, and passengers are required to cross the tracks on a special crossing at the northern end of the station to access the opposite platform.

Thirlmere Lakes National Park

Thirlmere Lakes is a national park in New South Wales, 70 km southwest of Sydney, and lying just to the west of Thirlmere, New South Wales. It is part of the Greater Blue Mountains Area World Heritage Site. Covering an area of 629 hectares, it was gazetted in 1972 as Thirlmere Lakes State Park, before being subsequently reclassified as a National Park.
