Pine Creek railway station

Pine Creek railway station is a disused railway station and museum on the former North Australia Railway, in the Northern Territory, Australia. The station is located 235 km from the original Darwin station, and was the southern terminus of the line until 1914. The station precinct is the most complete remaining example of infrastructure associated with the line.

Pine Creek, Northern Territory

Pine Creek is a small town in the Katherine region of the Northern Territory, Australia. According to the 2001 Australian census 665 people live in Pine Creek, which is the fourth largest town between Darwin and Alice Springs. Pine Creek is just off the Stuart Highway (the road from the south to Darwin) and is still a notable tourist stop. A number of events are held each year to promote the town in the region.

Pine Creek Airfield

Pine Creek Airfield was an emergency landing ground at Pine Creek, Northern Territory, Australia during World War II. Civil airfield extended by B Company and HQ Detachment of the 808th Engineer Aviation Battalion between 11 May 1942 to 16 July 1942. The runway was 6,000 ft × 100 ft ( m ×  m) wide. Due to housing development and road and railway construction, the runway length has now been decreased to about 700 m, with a gravel surface.

MacDonald Airfield

MacDonald Airfield was an airfield built alongside the former northern road, west of Stuart Highway, north of Pine Creek, Northern Territory, Australia during World War II. The airfield was constructed by the 43rd Engineer Regiment in March 1942 with further improvements undertaken by the 808th Engineer Aviation Battalion between 11 May 1942 and 16 July 1942 and later by the Allied Works Council and No 1 Airfield Construction Unit RAAF.
