Wondai, Queensland

Wondai is a town in the South Burnett region of Queensland, Australia. The town is located to the south of the Bunya Highway, 241 kilometres north west of the state capital, Brisbane. At the 2006 census, Wondai had a population of 1,402. Wondai is named for the local aboriginal word for dingo, or native dog. Wondai was first settled in the 1850s and closer settlement took place in the early 1900s.

Tingoora, Queensland

Tingoora is a town in the South Burnett region of Queensland, Australia. The town is in the South Burnett Region LGA and on the Bunya Highway, 249 kilometres north west of the state capital, Brisbane. At the 2006 census, Tingoora had a population of 175. The town is named for the local Indigenous Australian word for wattle tree. The Tingoora Hotel, established in 1900, was reportedly the first public building in the town.

The Shire of Wondai was a local government area located in the South Burnett region of Queensland, Australia, about 140 kilometres northwest of the capital, Brisbane. The shire covered an area of 3,577.6 square kilometres, and existed as a local government entity from 1910 until 2008, when it amalgamated with several other councils in the South Burnett area to form the South Burnett Region. Major activities in the shire include beef and timber.

Wooroolin, Queensland

Wooroolin is a town in the South Burnett region of Queensland, Australia. The town is in the South Burnett Region LGA and on the Bunya Highway, 243 kilometres north west of the state capital, Brisbane. At the 2006 census, Wooroolin had a population of 164. Immediately to the east of the town is the Wooroolin Wetland, which is classified as a ‘palustrine’ wetland - a non-tidal, inland, non-arid, seasonally flooded, vegetated swamp.

The Shire of Murgon was a local government area in the South Burnett region of Queensland, Australia. The shire covered an area of 664.7 square kilometres, and existed as a local government entity from 1914 until 2008, when it amalgamated with several other councils in the South Burnett area to become the South Burnett Regional Council.
