Port Douglas is a town in Far North Queensland, Australia, approximately 70 km north of Cairns. Its permanent population was 4,772 at the time of the 2011 census. The town's population can often double, however, with the influx of tourists during the peak tourism season May–September. The town is named in honour of former Premier of Queensland, John Douglas. Port Douglas developed quickly based on the mining industry.

Quaid Road
Quaid Road is a 32 km long stretch of private road in Far North Queensland. The road was given corridor approval and completed in early 1989 through rainforest that was later declared Wet Tropics World Heritage Area in late 1989 and links Wangetti, on the coast just north of Cairns, to Southedge, just south of Mount Molloy.

Mona Mona Mission
The Mona Mona Aboriginal Mission is a former Seventh-day Adventist mission established near Kuranda, Queensland, Australia. In 1913, large numbers, particularly of Djabugay people, were rounded up and forcibly taken to the mission. Until 1940 it was almost self-sufficient, growing its own food, and cutting and milling timber. After this period, soil fertility deteriorated and with the increasing costs, the mission soon became unviable. Also the city of Cairns was growing and needed more water.
