Gawler Central railway station

Gawler Central railway station is the terminus railway station on the Gawler railway line which is located in the South Australian town of Gawler. It is located 42.2km by railway from the Adelaide Railway Station. The station was opened in May 1911 and was originally named Willaston. It was renamed North Gawler in September 1911. On 12 February 1984 the name was changed to Gawler Central.

North Para River

The North Para River rises from the Barossa Ranges near Eden Valley and flows southwest through the Barossa Valley, passing through the towns of Nuriootpa, Tanunda, before merging with the South Para River in Gawler forming the Gawler River. The North Para River catchment is one of the key watersheds in the northern Mount Lofty Ranges. It plays a very important role in the economy of South Australia, providing much of the water used by viticulture in the Barossa Valley.

South Para River

The South Para River is a river in Australia. It rises in the Mount Lofty Ranges near Mount Crawford and Kersbrook and flows northwest through the Mount Lofty Ranges, passing through the Warren Reservoir and the South Para Reservoir, before merging with the North Para River in Gawler forming the Gawler River. The South Para River catchment is one of the key watersheds in the northern Mount Lofty Ranges.

Gawler, South Australia

Gawler is the first country town in the state of South Australia, and is named after the second Governor (British Vice-Regal representative) of the colony of South Australia, George Gawler. It is 44 km north of the centre of the state capital, Adelaide, and is close to the major wine producing district of the Barossa Valley. Topographically, Gawler lies at the confluence of two tributaries of the Gawler River, the North and South Para rivers, where they emerge from a range of low hills.
