Truro, South Australia

Truro (postcode 5356, altitude 311m) is a town in South Australia, 80 km northeast of Adelaide. It is on the Sturt Highway east of the Barossa Valley near where the highway crosses the ridge of the Mount Lofty Ranges. The town was laid out in 1847 and 1848 by John Howard Angas, the son of George Fife Angas who had bought the land in 1842. At the 2011 census, Truro had a population of 395.

Moorunde Wildlife Reserve

Moorunde Wildlife Reserve is a 70 km nature reserve in South Australia near Blanchetown. To the south it is adjoining to Yookamurra Sanctuary. Moorunde is managed by the Natural History Society of South Australia. Moorunde was established in 1968 mainly to protect the Southern Hairy-nosed Wombat. Their number has risen from 200 to now ca. 600 animals, which is claimed to be the largest population existing. The general landscape is formed by mallee woodlands and shrublands.

Yookamurra Sanctuary

Yookamurra Sanctuary is a 50 km nature reserve in the Murraylands region of South Australia, between the eastern slopes of the Mount Lofty Ranges and the Murray River, 24 km north-east of the town of Sedan. It is owned and managed by the Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC).
