District Council of Tumby Bay

The Tumby Bay District Council is a local government area of South Australia covering an area of the North Eastern Eyre Peninsula. Established in 1906, only six years after the town of Tumby Bay was established, the district was annexed from the former District Council of Port Lincoln to form the present council.

The town of Tumby Bay is the major population centre of the District Council of Tumby Bay, and the centre of an agricultural district farming cereal crops and sheep, as well as having established fishing and tourism industries.

Ungarra is a small agricultural based town located in the north eastern Eyre Peninsula, South Australia approximately 600 km from the state's capital, Adelaide and around 80 km north of Port Lincoln. At the 2006 census, Ungarra had a population of 241. The name 'Ungarra' is derived from a nearby waterhole of the same name which is located just to the south of the township.
