Buckland Military Training Area

The Buckland Military Training Area (BMTA) is a small arms and manoeuvre range, located 76 kilometres from Hobart, Tasmania. The training area is the largest and most used training area in Tasmania. The range covers 23,428 hectares and has a 400-man camp and a Range Complex, which includes a standard grenade range, three sneaker ranges, a snap gallery range, six tactical fire and manoeuvre training areas and a marksmanship training range.

Levendale, Tasmania

Levendale is a small settlement in the Southern Midlands Council area 53 km north of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia servicing the local farming community. Australian author and novelist Rachael Treasure resides in the area. The settlement has a historic primary school, established 15 April 1901, which also serves as a community centre and focal point for the area.

Tooms Lake, Tasmania

Tooms Lake is the name of both a lake and a village in the eastern midlands of Tasmania. The lake is artificial and shallow covering 6.6 km² The lake can hold 25.362 gigaliters of water. The catchment area is 60.2 km². It is drained by the Tooms River, which flows into the Macquarie River The lake is reached by the gravel Tooms Lake Road 83 km from Hobart. Seaplanes land on the lake several times per year. The lake is used for recreational fishing, for brown trout and rainbow trout.
