Thorpdale, Victoria

Thorpdale is a small country town in the Gippsland area of eastern Victoria, Australia, less than 20 km south of Trafalgar. Famous for its potatoes, it is located amongst the rich farmland of the Latrobe Valley. Thorpdale spuds are eaten around the country and also exported overseas. The name "Thorpdale" means "village in a valley". The soil in the area is particularly rich as the town is located in a former volcanic crater. It is administered by the Shire of Baw Baw.

Division of McMillan

The Division of McMillan is an Australian Electoral Division in the state of Victoria. It is located in the western part of the Gippsland region, which extends for the length of Victoria's eastern Bass Strait coastline. It includes the outer south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Pakenham, and also includes the towns of Warragul, Moe, Wonthaggi, Leongatha and Foster.

2012 Gippsland earthquake

A magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck Gippsland near Moe at 8.55 pm on 19 June 2012, at a shallow depth of 9.9 km. It was the strongest recorded in Victoria in at least three decades, with some sources suggesting it was the strongest in over a century. It was felt across much of Victoria and parts of New South Wales, with strong shaking reported across the state capital, Melbourne.

Trafalgar High School

Trafalgar High School is a years 7-12 co-ed school located in Trafalgar, Victoria. It was officially opened in 1964 after running classes on the original Trafalgar Primary School grounds, now Balfour Park. When it opened the school had 95 pupils.
