Paynesville is a tourist/holiday resort town in the Gippsland region of Victoria, Australia. At the 2006 census, Paynesville had a population of 2967. The town is located 293 kilometres east of the state capital, Melbourne. It is known as the boating capital of Victoria.

Banksia Peninsula

Banksia Peninsula is a peninsula in Victoria, Australia. It is located at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:37|56|S|147|41|E||| | |name= }}, about 15 kilometres (9 mi) south of Bairnsdale on the northern side of the Gippsland Lakes. A long, narrow, sandy peninsula, it is the site of Duck Arm, a popular recreational bay with around thirty houses and a number of school camps. The name refers to the plant genus Banksia, which grows in the area.

Raymond Island

Raymond Island is a small island in the Gippsland Lakes in eastern Victoria, Australia, about 300 km from Melbourne. The island is approximately 6 km long by 2 km wide, and is just 200 m off the coast, across from the town of Paynesville. The island is named after William Odell Raymond, originally a magistrate from New South Wales who established himself as a squatter in Gippsland in the 1840s.

Nicholson River (Victoria)

The Nicholson River is a river in East Gippsland, Victoria, Australia, lying between the Mitchell and the Tambo Rivers. It has a length of 72.5 km . The river was named by Angus McMillan in 1839 after Charles Nicholson, who represented the Port Phillip District on the NSW Legislative Council and was later Colonial Secretary. The Nicholson River begins in the Angora Range in the lower reaches of the Australian Alps west of Ensay.
