Shire of Towong

The Shire of Towong is a local government area of Victoria, Australia in the north-east of the state. It includes the towns of Corryong and Tallangatta. It has an area of 6,670 square kilometres. In 2001 it had a population of 6,400. It was formed in 1994 from the merger of the Shire of Tallangatta and Shire of Upper Murray. The council is composed of five councillors elected to represent an unsubdivided municipality.

Dartmouth, Victoria

Dartmouth is a town in Victoria, Australia. It was established in 1973 as a construction camp for workers working on the Dartmouth Dam and the Post Office opened on 1 March 1973. (An earlier Post Office had existed in the rural locality from 1910 until 1930). The dam was built very close to the mouth of the Dart river where it joined the Mitta Mitta river and is a major reservoir in the Murray-Darling River system, on the Mitta Mitta River.

Banimboola Hydroelectric Power Station

Banimboola Power Station is a hydroelectric power station on the Dartmouth Regulating Dam (Lake Banimboola), downstream of Dartmouth Dam on the Mitta Mitta River in Victoria, Australia. Banimboola has three generators, with a generating capacity of 12.2 MW of electricity. It is owned and operated by AGL Energy.

Mitta Mitta, Victoria

Mitta Mitta is a small town in the Australian state of Victoria in the Mitta Mitta Valley. It stands on the Omeo Highway and is 380 km from Melbourne, and is located on the Mitta Mitta River not far from Dartmouth Dam. At the 2006 census, Mitta Mitta and the surrounding area had a population of 151. The permanent town population is 31.
