Inverleigh, Victoria

Inverleigh is a small rural township in Victoria, Australia located 28 kilometres west from the City of Geelong and 87 kilometres from the state capital, Melbourne. At the 2006 census, Inverleigh had a population of 562. Since the mid-1970s Inverleigh has become a dormitory suburb of Geelong with some residents commuting to Melbourne. The recent opening of the Geelong Ring Road will improve access to Melbourne which should be only a 45 minute drive away.

Teesdale is a rural locality in Victoria, Australia. The locality is in the Golden Plains Shire, near the regional city of Geelong and 100 kilometres west of the state capital, Melbourne. At the 2006 census, Teesdale had a population of 1,033. Teesdale Post Office opened on 8 March 1864.

Bannockburn, Victoria

Bannockburn is a rural township near Geelong, Victoria, Australia, 93 km southwest of Melbourne. It is located in Golden Plains Shire. At the 2006 census, Bannockburn had a population of 2486. The township, originally named Leigh Road, founded in the early 1850s, is assumed to be named after the 14th century battle site in Scotland. It grew as a coaching stop during the 1850s and 1860s when gold was shipped from the Ballarat goldfields to the port of Geelong.

The Shire of Bannockburn was a local government area about 85 kilometres west-southwest of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The shire covered an area of 702.28 square kilometres, and existed from 1862 until 1994.

Golden Plains Shire

Golden Plains Shire is a local government area in Victoria, Australia in the south-west of the state. It includes the towns of Bannockburn, Gheringhap, Lethbridge, Linton, Berringa, Rokewood and Meredith. It has an area of 2,721 square kilometres. In 2009 it had a population of 18,173. It was formed in 1994 from the merger of the former Shire of Bannockburn, Shire of Leigh, Shire of Grenville and part of the Shire of Buninyong.
