Peechelba, Victoria

Peechelba is a small town in north eastern Victoria, Australia. The town is located in the Rural City of Wangaratta and the Shire of Moira local government area between Wangaratta and Yarrawonga and 277 kilometres north west of the state capital, Melbourne. At the 2006 census, Peechelba and the surrounding area had a population of 116. The town is home to a nature reserve and is not far from the Ovens River.

Shire of Wangaratta

The Shire of Wangaratta was a local government area about 260 kilometres northeast of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The shire covered an area of 919.24 square kilometres, and existed from 1863 until 1994. The Shire did not include Wangaratta itself, which was governed by a separate local government.

Warby Range State Park

Warby Range State Park was a Victorian state park just north of Glenrowan. In 2010 the park became part of the newly declared Warby-Ovens National Park. It is 11,460 hectares in area, and named after Ben Warby, a pastoralist who settled in the area in 1844. There is one camping ground, "Whenams".

Bundalong South

Bundalong South is a locality in the Shire of Moira local government area. The post office opened as Peechelba on 2 September 1880 and was renamed Bundalong South on 2 July 1883. It closed on 31 March 1966.
