Yaapeet

Yaapeet is a town in the Wimmera region of western Victoria, Australia. The town is located in the Shire of Yarriambiack local government area, 417 kilometres north west of the state capital, Melbourne. Facilities in the town include a primary school and a recreation reserve. Wyperfeld National Park and Lake Albacutya are nearby landmarks. It was the terminus for the now-closed Yaapeet railway line.

Lake Albacutya

Lake Albacutya is in Victoria, Australia. The postcode there is 3424. It has been designated a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention. When full Lake Albacutya covers 5,500 ha, is 8 m deep and holds around 230 GL. Water enters the lake from Outlet Creek which is connected to Lake Hindmarsh to the south. When full the lake is controlled by the sill level of Outlet Creek, which once breached drains the lake to the north.

Lake Hindmarsh

Lake Hindmarsh, in western Victoria, Australia, is the state’s largest natural freshwater lake. The nearest towns are Jeparit to the south and Rainbow to the north. The lake has filled after more than a decade of drought, due to floods in early 2011.

The Division of Mallee is an Australian Electoral Division in the state of Victoria. It is located in the far north-west of the state, adjoining the border with South Australia in the west, and the Murray River (which forms the border with New South Wales) in the north. At 70,694 square kilometres, it is the largest Division in Victoria. It includes the centres of Mildura, Ouyen, Swan Hill, St Arnaud, Warracknabeal and Horsham.
