Wallan, Victoria

Wallan, traditionally known as Wallan Wallan, is a town in Victoria, 50 kilometres from Melbourne on the Northern Highway in Australia. The town sits at the southern end of the large and diverse Shire of Mitchell which extends from the northern fringes of Melbourne into the farming country of north-central Victoria and the lower Goulburn Valley. The township flanks the Northern Highway and is set against the backdrop of the Great Dividing Range.

Wallan railway station

Wallan is a railway station on the North East railway serving the town of Wallan, Victoria, Australia. Wallan station is manned part-time and is located at the northern end of the Wallan-Whittlesea Road level crossing. The Melbourne - Sydney standard gauge line is adjacent to the station, as is a crossing loop.

Pretty Sally

Pretty Sally or Pretty Sally Hill is a dormant volcanic cone located between Wallan and Kilmore in Victoria, Australia. It is 529 metres above sea level. It arises from the surrounding open undulating plains of a broad gap in the Great Dividing Range. The original road to Sydney ran near the peak known as the Big Hill. Sally Smith (better known as "Pretty Sally") operated an unlicenced hotel there in the 1840s. She died falling under her cart after striking a stump.

Beveridge railway station

Beveridge is a closed railway station on the North East railway that served the township of Beveridge, Victoria, Australia. This station opened on 14 October 1872. A goods shed was provided on opening, until moved in 1885 to the down side of the line. The final station building was located on the down platform and was transferred from Bright to replace the original in October 1900.

Heathcote Junction is a town in central Victoria, Australia. The town is located 77 kilometres north of the state capital, Melbourne and 3 kilometres from nearby Wandong. At the 2006 census, Heathcote Junction and the surrounding area had a combined population of 887. The town was affected by the Black Saturday bushfires, including one fatality.
