Barkly is a very small town in Victoria, Australia, about 180 kilometres northwest of Melbourne. It is located near the intersection of the road from Landsborough to Redbank, and the road from Frenchmans to St Arnaud. It is close to the west boundary of the St Arnaud Range National Park. The area was first called the Navarre Diggings when gold was discovered there in June 1859 by a group led by James Law (1827-1910). It was about six miles from the Navarre township.

Avoca railway station
Avoca station is a railway station in the town of Avoca, Victoria. It was first opened on Saturday, 21 October 1876 however was closed for gauge conversion on Friday, 14 April 1995. Again the railway was opened on Sunday, 28 April 1995, then the line was booked out of service on Friday, 21 January 2005. Although no longer in use, Avoca retains a brick station building, platform and goods shed.
