Barkly, Victoria

Barkly is a very small town in Victoria, Australia, about 180 kilometres northwest of Melbourne. It is located near the intersection of the road from Landsborough to Redbank, and the road from Frenchmans to St Arnaud. It is close to the west boundary of the St Arnaud Range National Park. The area was first called the Navarre Diggings when gold was discovered there in June 1859 by a group led by James Law (1827-1910). It was about six miles from the Navarre township.

St Arnaud Box-Ironbark Region

The St Arnaud Box-Ironbark Region is a 481 km fragmented and irregularly shaped tract of land that encompasses all the Box-Ironbark forest and woodland remnants used as winter feeding habitat by Swift Parrots in the St Arnaud-Stawell region of central Victoria, south-eastern Australia.

Navarre, Victoria

Navarre is a town in the Wimmera region of the Australian state of Victoria. The town is in the Shire of Northern Grampians local government area, 227 kilometres north west of the state capital, Melbourne and 37 kilometres north east of the regional centre of Stawell. At the 2006 census, Navarre and the surrounding area had a population of 168. Navarre began as the site of an inn established in 1848 alongside a stock route. This was joined by a second inn in 1850.

Stuart Mill, Victoria

Stuart Mill is a town in north western Victoria. The town is in the Shire of Northern Grampians and on the Sunraysia Highway, 232 kilometres north west of the state capital of Melbourne. At the 2006 census, Stuart Mill had a population of 241. The town is named after the British philosopher John Stuart Mill.

Joel Joel, Victoria

Joel Joel is a town in the Wimmera region of Victoria, Australia. Joel Joel Post Office opened on 19 August 1892, closed in 1895, reopened in 1902 and closed again in 1965. A new CFA Fire Station was opened on 18 March 2011 by Parliamentary Secretary Bill Tilley MP.
