Cowcowing, Western Australia

Cowcowing is a small town located just off the Koorda–Wyalkatchem road 215 kilometres from Perth in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. The town originated as a railway siding and was later gazetted as a townsite in 1919. The name of the town is Aboriginal in origin and was first recorded by explorers in 1854. The name of the nearby lake recorded as Gow gow eeh lake, has now been renamed Cowcowing Lake, the meaning of the name remains unknown.

The Shire of Koorda is a local government area in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, about 240 kilometres northeast of Perth, the state capital. The Shire covers an area of 2,836 square kilometres and its seat of government is the town of Koorda.

Koorda, Western Australia

Koorda is a town located in the North Eastern Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, approximately 236 kilometres east of Perth and 43 kilometres north of Wyalkatchem at the northeastern end of the Cowcowing Lakes. It is the main town in the Shire of Koorda. At the 2006 census, Koorda had a population of 260. The surrounding areas produce wheat and other cereal crops. The town is a receival site for Cooperative Bulk Handling.

The Shire of Aurukun is a local government area in Far North Queensland, Australia. The shire covers part of western Cape York Peninsula, the most northerly section of the Australian mainland. It covers an area of 7,375.0 square kilometres, and has existed as a local government entity since 1978.

Wyalkatchem, Western Australia

Wyalkatchem townsite is located in the central agricultural region, 192 kilometres east-north-east of Perth and 35 kilometres east of Dowerin. At the 2006 census, Wyalkatchem had a population of 344. When the extension of the railway east from Dowerin was planned in 1908 land was set aside for a future townsite in the area of Wyalcatchem Tank.
