Londonderry, Western Australia

Londonderry is a ghost town in Western Australia, located 14 km South West of Coolgardie in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia. Gold was discovered in the area in 1894 by a party of prospectors, one of whom named the find after his home town of Londonderry. Lord Fingall took over the find in 1892 but the gold soon petered out. The townsite was gazetted in 1895. By 1898 the town had a population of 220 (200 males and 20 females).

Burbanks, Western Australia

Burbanks is an abandoned town in Western Australia located between Coolgardie and Londonderry in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia. In 1894 gold was discovered in the area and the townsite was gazetted in 1897. The follwoing year the population of the town was 390 (350 males and 40 females). The town was named after the prospector, W Burbanks, who along with his partner Sheldon, first discovered gold in the area.

Coolgardie, Western Australia

Coolgardie is a small town in the Australian state of Western Australia, 558 kilometres east of the state capital, Perth. It has a population of approximately 800 people. Although Coolgardie is now known to most Western Australians as a tourist town and a mining 'ghost town', it was once the third largest town in Western Australia. At this time, mining of alluvial gold was a major industry and supplied the flagging economy with new hope.

Shire of Coolgardie

The Shire of Coolgardie is a local government area in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, lying roughly west and south of the city of Kalgoorlie. The Shire covers an area of 30,400 square kilometres, and its seat of government is the town of Coolgardie, although the twin towns of Kambalda and Kambalda West contain two-thirds of the Shire's population.
