Whim Creek, Western Australia

Whim Creek is a small town in Western Australia. Originally a post office known as "Whim Well", Whim Creek is on the North West Coastal Highway midway between Karratha and Port Hedland. It is 1,645 kilometres north of Perth and a stopover point for travellers to Broome.

Balla Balla River

Balla Balla River is a river in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The river rises on the southern side of Yirrakulanna Hills and flows in a north-easterly direction crossing the North West Coastal Highway near the Stranger mine at Whim Creek then finally discharging into Balla Balla harbour, near Depuch Island in the Indian Ocean. The river is ephemeral and can be completely dry in the summer months, but during periodic flood events the water level can rise over 5.5 metres .

Sherlock Station

Sherlock Station is a pastoral lease and sheep station located approximately 54 kilometres East of Roebourne in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Covering an area of 216,700 acres pasture the lease provides good grazing land. The station is currently owned by Peter Cook, a pharmacist, who owns four other stations in the Pilbara including Croydon and Pyramid Stations. Sherlock is operating under the Crown Lease number CL311-1966and has the Land Act number LA3114/558.
