Piawaning, Western Australia
The townsite of Piawaning is located in the northern agricultural region, 160 km north-east of Perth and 28 km north-east of New Norcia. At the 2006 census, Piawaning had a population of 309. A northward extension of the railway line from Toodyay to Bolgart was planned in 1913, and was to terminate near Piawaning Spring. When the exact route of the line was settled in 1919 the government decided to set aside land for a townsite at the terminus.

Calingiri Important Bird Area is an 807 km tract of land roughly centred on the town of Calingiri in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. It lies about 120 km north-east of Perth. It has been classified by BirdLife International as an Important Bird Area because it supports up to 20 breeding pairs of Short-billed Black Cockatoo, an endangered species that nests in remnant patches of eucalypt woodland and isolated paddock trees, and feeds in native shrublands.

Calingiri, Western Australia
Calingiri is a town located north-east of Perth, near New Norcia in Western Australia. It is in the Shire of Victoria Plains. The town derives its name from Calingiri Waterhole, the name of which was first recorded by a surveyor in 1903. The settlement was first proposed in 1914. By the time the town was gazetted in 1917 it was variously spelt as Calingtry, Kalingiri, The Washpool, Kalingary, Calingarra, Calingtry, Calingiry, Kalingiry and finally Calingiri.
