Interesting facts about this location

Habicht

Habicht is a mountain in the Stubai Alps of Austria. For a long time, the locals believed it to be the highest mountain in Tyrol, due to its prominence above the surrounding mountains. Despite what they thought, the highest peak in the Stubai Alps is Zuckerhütl which is 230 metres higher than Habicht. The name literally means "hawk" in German.

Stubai Hohenweg

The Stubai Hohenweg or Stubai highroute is a high-level footpath approximately 120 km long, which can be done in 8 or 9 days. It is designed to be a circular route starting in Neustift, but can be started from elsewhere, for example Fulpmes. The path is by alpine and high alpine terrain, between 2000 and 3000 m. Some sections are secured by cable, but the route avoids glaciers.

Serles

Serles is an Austrian mountain, between Stubaital and Wipptal in Tyrol, Austria. Its nickname is Altar von Tirol, literally the Altar of Tyrol. Reachable from Matrei am Brenner/ Wipptal via Maria Waldrast from Fulpmes/ Stubaital via Medraz/ Fulpmes, via Wildeben- Alm (also accessible by Mountainbike) via Serlesjöchl from Kampl/Neustift, via Wildeben- Alm, via Serlesjöchl

Stubai Alps

The Stubai Alps is a mountain range in the Central Eastern Alps of Europe. It is named after the Stubaital valley to its east. It is located southwest of Innsbruck, Austria, and several summits of the range form part of Austria's border with Italy.

Stubaital

The Stubaital is an alpine valley in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It is the central valley of the Stubai Alps. The Ruetz river flows through the valley. This 40-km long valley runs southwest from Schönberg im Stubaital, near Innsbruck. Below Fulpmes, the towns lie on terraces above the Ruetz on either side of the river. At Fulpmes the terraces merge to form the valley floor. South of Neustift, the main valley continues as the Unterberg and the tributary Oberbergtal branches to the north.
