Vils (Lech)

The river Vils is a 30 km long tributary of the Lech River in the Alps of Austria and Germany. The Vils has a drainage basin of approximately a 300 km², with an average annual precipitation of nearly 2000 mm. It originates in the Allgäu Alps in Tyrol from the supplies of the Vilsalpsee, and is its only discharge.

Archbach

The Archbach, also called Planseeache, is an about 15 km long influx on the right side of the Lech River in Tyrol, Austria. It arises from the Plansee in Breitenwang. After that the river flows northeastward to Reutte and to Pflach where it merges with the Lech.

Alpsee

The Alpsee is a lake in the Ostallgäu district of Bavaria, Germany, located about 4 kilometres southeast of Füssen. It is close to the Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles. The lake has just under five kilometres of shoreline and a depth of up to 62 metres. It is a popular tourist attraction, given its proximity to the castles and the wild swans that inhabit the lake. Boats are available for rent and there is a wide variety of hiking trails in the vicinity.

2007 European Curling Championships

The 2007 Le Gruyère European Curling Championships were held in Füssen, Germany December 1-8, 2007. Scotland, skipped by David Murdoch, won the gold medal by beating Norway's Thomas Ulsrud 5-3 in the final. Norway had not lost a single game entering the final. On the women's side, Anette Norberg of Sweden captured the gold medal with a 9-4 victory over Scotland's Kelly Wood. This marks Norberg's seventh European championship in the last eight years.
