Çaykənd, Goygol

Çaykənd (also, Chaikend and Chaykend; Armenian: Գետաշեն, Getashen) is a village and municipality in the Goygol Rayon of Azerbaijan, which was previously populated by Armenians. Its Armenian population were forcefully evicted and deported by Azeri and Soviet special forces during Operation Ring. It currently has a population of 2,236.

Aşağı Ağcakənd

Aşağı Ağcakənd (also, Ashagi Agchakand, Ashagy Agdzhakend, Nerkishen, Nizhniy Agdzhakend, Novo Agdzhakend, Shahoumian, Shahumyan, Shaumyan, and Shaumyanovsk) is a village in the Goranboy Rayon of Azerbaijan. The municipality consists of the villages of Aşağı Ağcakənd, Yuxarı Ağcakənd and Meşəli. During Soviet times Aşağı Ağcakənd was officially named Shaumian after the Bolshevik leader Stepan Shahumyan.

Goygol District

For Xanlar in the Bibi Eybat oil fields, see Baku and Baku Oil Fields. Goygol is a rayon (district) in northwestern Azerbaijan. Formerly known as Khanlar, the region was renamed "Goygol" after Lake Goygol, the famous blue lake, by the decision of the Parliament of Azerbaijan on April 25, 2008. The administrative center of the rayon is the city of Goygol. The city of Goygol was founded as the German settlement of Helenendorf in 1819 and was renamed as Khanlar (Xanlar) in 1938.
