Khojali (city)

Khojali or Ivanyan (also Ivanian Armenian: Իվանյան), also, Ay-Khodzhaly, Khodgalou, Khodzhalv, Khodzhaly, Khojalu, and Khozhali, is a town in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, located some 10 km northeast of its capital Stepanakert. Internationally, it is still considered a de jure part of Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan counts it as the capital of its Khojali Rayon.

Khojaly Massacre

The Khojaly Massacre was the killing of hundreds of ethnic Azerbaijani civilians from the town of Khojaly on 25–26 February 1992 by the Armenian and, partially, by CIS armed forces during the Nagorno-Karabakh War.

Khojali District

Khojali, also called Khojaly, Khodjaly and Hojaly, is a rayon in the Nagorno-Karabakh break away region of Azerbaijan, now under the control of armed forces of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. Its capital is Khojali. The region was once a site of prehistoric Khojaly-Gadabay culture. It was the location of the Khojaly Massacre in February 1992. The local government has designated it as the province of Askeran.
