Chittagong Ship Breaking yard

Chittagong Ship Breaking Yard, located in Bangladesh, is world's second-largest ship breaking area. The ship breaking takes place in the Fauzdarhat area along the 18 kilometres Sitakunda coastal strip, 20 kilometres north-west of Chittagong. It accounts for around a fifth of the worlds ship-breaking industry, employs over 200,000 Bangladeshi's and accounts for half of all the steel in Bangladesh.

SS Clan Alpine (1942)

Clan Alpine was a 7,168 GRT cargo ship which was built in 1942 for the Ministry of War Transport (MoWT) as Empire Barrie. She was sold to Clan Line Steamers Ltd in 1947 and served with them until 1957 when she was sold to Bullard, King & Co Ltd and renamed Umvoti. In 1959 she was sold back to Clan Line and renamed Clan Alpine. She was sold for scrap in 1960 and wrecked in a cyclone in October 1960 at Chittagong, East Pakistan, finally being scrapped in February 1961.

Bangladesh Military Academy

Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) is the training institute for the officer cadets of Bangladesh Army. It is located in Bhatiary, near Chittagong HIll Tracts, in the Chittagong District of south-east Bangladesh, about 13 kilometres north of Chittagong. The Academy is situated on the slopes of the Sitakunda hill ranges and the shore of the Bay of Bengal. The Academy was initially raised at Comilla Cantonment on 29 November 1973 and later relocated at Bhatiary in 1976.
