Once completed in 2013, it will be used mostly for football matches and will host the home matches of K.A.A. Gent. The stadium will have a capacity of 20,000 people. It replaces their current stadium Jules Ottenstadion. The first plans of the stadium were presented mid-2003, but only at the start of 2011, KAA Gent could confirm that the stadium would be built. It should be ready by mid-2013.

Jules Ottenstadion is a multi-purpose stadium in Gentbrugge, Ghent, Belgium. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of K.A.A. Gent. The stadium holds 12,919 and was built in 1920. It is due to be replaced by the new Arteveldestadion in 2013. The people of Ghent call this stadium simply Ottenstadion. It is situated in the centre of a residential neighbourhood in the Bruiloftstraat in Gentbrugge.
