Baal, Belgium

Baal is a village in the municipality of Tremelo, in the province of Flemish Brabant, Belgium. It is notable as the home of successful cyclo-cross competitor Sven Nys. He is sometimes called by the nickname "the Kannibaal van Baal" (Dutch for "Cannibal of Baal"). The Grand Prix Sven Nys cyclo-cross race, named after Nys, is held annually in Baal. Fellow cyclo-cross competitor Niels Albert also lives in Baal.

Father Raskin

Father Raskin or Jozef Raskin was a Belgian Scheutist. He was a missionary in China, chaplain of the Belgian Army and propagandist for his congregation. During the Second World War he was decapitated by the Germans.

Demer

The Demer is an 85 km long river in eastern Belgium, right tributary of the Dijle. It flows through the Belgian provinces Limburg and Flemish Brabant. Its source is near Tongeren. It flows into the river Dijle in Werchter, Rotselaar municipality. The most important towns along the Demer are (starting from the source) Bilzen, Hasselt, Diest and Aarschot. Tributaries of the Demer are the rivers Herk, Gete and Velpe (all three in Halen).

Werchter

Werchter is a small village in Belgium, belonging to the municipality of Rotselaar. It is site of the festival Rock Werchter. The origin of the place name is unknown but it's thought to be a watername. It is the birthplace of painter Cornelius Van Leemputten.
