Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Brussels

The National Basilica of the Sacred Heart (French: Basilique Nationale du Sacré-Cœur, Dutch: Nationale Basiliek van het Heilig-Hart) is a Roman Catholic Minor Basilica and parish church in Brussels. The church was dedicated to the Sacred Heart, inspired by the Basilique du Sacré-Coeur in Paris. Symbolically King Leopold II laid the first stone of the basilica in 1905 during the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of Belgian independence.

The King Baudouin Metro Station is western terminus of line 6 (formerly 1A) of the Brussels Metro. It serves the King Baudouin Stadium. It was opened on August 25, 1998.

Edmond Machtens Stadium

The Edmond Machtens Stadium is a football stadium located in the municipality of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean in Brussels, Belgium. The stadium has a capacity of 11,000 places. It is the home of Belgian Second Division club FC Molenbeek Brussels Strombeek since the 2003 merger between R White Daring Molenbeek and KFC Strombeek. Prior to this it has been the home of R White Daring Molenbeek and of R Daring Club de Bruxelles.

Heysel Stadium disaster

The Heysel Stadium disaster occurred on 29 May 1985 when escaping fans were pressed against a wall in the Heysel Stadium in Brussels, Belgium, before the start of the 1985 European Cup Final between Juventus of Italy and Liverpool of England. Thirty-nine Juventus fans died and 600 were injured. Approximately one hour before the Juventus-Liverpool final was due to kick off, a large group of Liverpool fans breached a fence separating them from a "neutral area" which contained Juventus fans.
