Belgian Lorraine

Belgian Lorraine is the part of Lorraine that lies in the south of the Belgian province of Luxembourg, part of Wallonia. The term is used in a geological context, bordering the Ardennes in the north. Culturally and linguistically, it is made up of two sub-regions: The Roman part Gaume, with Virton as main cultural city. The Germanic/Luxembourgish part Arelerland, with Arlon as main cultural city.

Meix-le-Tige

Meix-le-Tige (Walloon MS-li-Tîxhe) is a section of the Belgian town of Saint-Léger, located in Wallonia municipality in the province of Luxembourg of Belgium. It was a separate municipality before the merger of Commons in 1977. Meix-le-Rod is an exception in Belgian Lorraine, in that it name belongs to the Germanic languages, while its inhabitants traditionally spoke Gaume (Lorraine dialect novel).

Gaume is the roman part of the Belgian Lorraine region (the Land of Arlon, being the Luxembourgish-speaking part of the Belgian Lorraine).
