Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech

The Faculté Universitaire des Sciences Agronomiques de Gembloux, in Gembloux, Wallonia, Belgium, is a university in the French Community of Belgium. Its official language is French. The university is housed in the historical Abbey of Gembloux, which dates from the tenth century. In 2009, it was merged with the University of Liège and was renamed to Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech (GxABT).

Golzinne

Golzinne is a rural settlement near the village of Bossière. It is administratively part of the city of Gembloux, Namur, Belgium. It is notable as the only current producer of "Noir de Golzinne", a black marble. Marble from Golzinne was used in decorations of the Palace of Versailles.

Liernu

Liernu is a subdivision of the Walloon Eghezee municipality located in the Belgian province of Namur. Liernu is best known for its centuries old Big Oak Tree {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:50.584206|N|4.827799|E|type:landmark_region:BE|||| | |name= }}, one of the largest and oldest in continental Europe. Liernu had 806 inhabitants as of March 2006, and extends over 625 Ha.

Battle of Gembloux (1940)

The Battle of Gembloux (or Battle of the Gembloux Gap) was a battle fought between French and German forces in May 1940 during the Second World War. On 10 May 1940, Nazi Germany's armed forces, the Wehrmacht, invaded Luxembourg, The Netherlands, and Belgium under the operational plan Fall Gelb (Case Yellow). The Allied Armies attempted to halt the German Army in Belgium, believing it to be the main German thrust.
