Rubim is a municipality in the northeast of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. Its population in 2007 was 9,561 inhabitants in a total area of 969 km². Rubim belongs to the Almenara statistical microregion. The elevation of the municipal seat is 254 meters. It became a municipality in 1943. This municipality is located in the valley of the Rubim do Sul River, a tributary of the Jequitinhonha River.

Almenara is a city in the northeast of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. Situated on the Jequitinhonha River it is the largest town in that river valley.
