The district capital is Borsedth town located some 50 kilometres south of the provincial capital of Kampong Speu by road. The district shares a border with Kampot and Takeo provinces to the south. Battle of Kompong Speu
The Battle of Kompong Speu began on June 12, 1970 when the combined forces of the South Vietnamese and Cambodian Armies fought to recapture the provincial capital of Kompong Speu. The town was captured by Communist forces on June 13 but was retaken by allied forces on June 16.

Kampong Speu (town)
Kampong Speu is the capital of Kampong Speu Province in central Cambodia. Speu is the Khmer word for starfruit, but Kampong Speu is actually famous for its palm sugar and wine. Most of the townspeople speak only Khmer, but some are conversant in Mandarin (you can usually find them employed by the small coffeeshops/restaurants or shops). The centre of the town hosts a market, surrounded by bicycle shops, a dispensary and small restaurants.
