Chok Chey

Chok Chey is a village in the Prey Veng Province of Cambodia. It is situated 16 km south of Prey Veng City. The main industry in the village is rice farming. During flood season, the flood channel from the village joins up with the Mekong River, which Chok Chey is connected to by a lake 4 km from the village itself. Though this lake only connects to the Mekong in flood season. It is home to approximately 1,400 people.

Ba Phnom is a relatively remote location and has been attractive to ascenti monks (loak dhutang) for centuries. It has also been an occasional center from which millennial movements have radiated throughout Khmer history. Ba Phnom has been a sacred place from very early times. An inscription from 629 AD associates it with Shiva and refers to it as "the holy mountain.

Prey Veng (city)

Prey Veng is the capital of Prey Veng Province in southern Cambodia. The town is located on the National Road 11 between Nak Loeung and Kampong Cham. It is located about two and half hours by road from Phnom Penh and three hours from Ho Chi Minh City. This quaint town is off the usual tourist trail and is uncrowded. It houses several old dilapidated colonial homes. There is a large lake west of the city which is dry from March to August.
