Located in the Canadian Rockies foothills, at an elevation of 1,120 meters, on the banks of the Little Red Deer River, Elkton is a predominantly ranching community. A post office was operational in Elkton from June 1907 to March 1969. A community hall is established in the settlement.

Bottrel is a hamlet in southern Alberta under the jurisdiction of Rocky View County. Bottrel is located approximately 65 km northwest of Calgary, just off Highway 22. Bottrel features a historic general store with campground. Edward Botterel was an early settler who arrived in the area c. 1888. The local post office operated from December 1, 1909 to March 31, 1969, and was named after Edward Botterel despite the erroneous spelling at its adoption.

Madden, Alberta
Madden is a hamlet in southern Alberta under the jurisdiction of Rocky View County. Madden is located approximately 46 kilometres north of Downtown Calgary on Highway 574, 16 kilometres west of the Town of Crossfield on Highway 2A and 19 kilometres west of Highway 2. The hamlet was named after Bernard Madden, and early pioneer and a prominent rancher who arrived in the area in 1876. The post office was opened on May 1, 1931.
