Its meandering course across the Cariboo Plateau is approximately 85 kilometres in length, beginning at Bridge Lake and running roughly westwards to the town of 100 Mile House (originally named Bridge Creek House) and from there turning and running northeast to Canim Lake (British Columbia).

Canim Lake is an unincorporated settlement and First Nations Indian reserve reserve community in British Columbia, Canada. It is located east of 100 Mile House in the Cariboo Region. The settlement is home to the Canim Lake Band of the Northern Shuswap Tribal Council, and lies at the southwestern end of Canim Lake. "Canim" means a type of large canoe in the Chinook Jargon.
